    The metrical form of the limerick lends itself to music very nicely. I have collected dozens of musical renditions and sheet music for limericks over the years and remain interested in the supposed refrain “Won’t you come up, come up to Limerick” (or similar) to learn whether or not its musical lilt matches the anapaest meter (not that it absolutely must, being considered a chorus).
